Letter: Thanks to City Council & Charter Commission for RCV Study Session

Submitted (unpublished) Letter to the Editor, Bloomington Sun Current

A big thank you to the Bloomington City Council and Charter Commission for holding an informative study session on Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) on May 16. I’m excited that the Bloomington City Council is considering ranked-choice voting for local elections. I look forward to future public hearings on this topic. If we want to avoid the expense and disappointment of a low-turnout summer primary, it's imperative that action be taken soon to make RCV possible. I believe RCV would be a great way to save taxpayer dollars while increasing voter participation and making city government more inclusive and representative.

For those who want to learn more about RCV, there's an opportunity to experience how it works by sampling and ranking donuts at the free "Donuts and Democracy" event at the Creekside Community Center on Sat., June 29 at 10-11:30am.
