Candidate Videos Available Now

Individual videos of City Council candidates and School Board candidates are now viewable online. The participating candidates share their backgrounds, priorities, and why they are running for office.

All Bloomington voters will have the at-large city council and school board races on their ballots. Voters in Districts 3 and 4 (roughly the northern half of Bloomington) will have an additional city council race, as well. See who’s on your ballot.

City Council Candidate Videos

As you watch the City Council candidate videos, consider not just your first choice but also your second and third choices for each race, since you’ll be able to rank the candidates on your ballot. Rank as many candidates as you have a preference for. If your first choice is eliminated in the runoff process, your second choice will count. If your second choice is eliminated, your third choice will count. In the end, the winning candidate will be the one who has a majority of continuing ballots.

The City Council candidate videos are a total of 34 minutes long. All candidates were invited to participate. Six of the 11 city council candidates did.

Candidate Forums

In addition to these candidate videos, the Bloomington League of Women Voters hosted two candidate forums - one for City Council candidates, and one for School Board candidates. Bloomington voters submitted questions for these forums in advance via email. The forums were recorded and will be available to watch online and on Bloomington TV (channels 14 or 859) after Sept. 16.
